19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.

However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
